WHAT IS DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY (DBT) AND HOW CAN IT HELP ME?


DBT is designed to follow on from the principles of CBT but geared towards working with those of us who have intense emotional experiences. DBT aims to help us understand and be more accepting of our difficult feelings so that we can regulate our emotional responses to challenging circumstances more effectively; this may be stress in the workplace, complications in relationships, or general transitions in life.

 

The purpose of DBT is to enable us to learn skills to manage overwhelming feelings and to make positive changes accordingly in how we cope with life.
